In-game Description

The SKS is a Soviet semi-automatic carbine chambered for the 7.62×39mm round, designed in 1943 by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov. Its complete designation, SKS-45, is an initialism for Samozaryadnyj Karabin sistemy Simonova, 1945 or SKS 45. In the early 1950s, the Soviets took the SKS carbine out of front-line service and replaced it with the AK-47; however, the SKS remained in second-line service for decades. It is still used as a ceremonial arm today.

One of the best weapons currently in the game IMO. It's accurate, takes zombies down in one hit and players down in two anywhere on the body, and, best of all, you don't need to find a magazine for it to work properly. The stripper clip helps make ammo management a little bit easier, but you can still just load up and fire as soon as you find the gun and some ammo. And if what you're shooting at doesn't die after you pump ten 7.62mm rounds into it, it's probably a dragon (Archer reference).

Ammo is a little bit harder to find than 7.62x51mm, but not by much. I was able to find around 50 rounds on a low pop server in about an hour and a half of poking around in Cherno, Elektro, and Balota.

The SKS uses a stripper clip, like the Mosin 91/30. It's 10 rounds & curved. There is a notch in the top of the action, you put the clip in the notch & "strip" (push them manually) into the 10rnd internal box mag. I had one, and it was fun to shoot. Got tired of the stripper clips & upgraded to an AK. BUT, the SKS is a good & cheap starter semi-auto, without much recoil.

if they say the bullet doesn't that mean you have the wroung one. you really need 7.62x39 and nothing else. you could mistaked with the 7.62x51mm

I found one of these in the North West Airfield Barracks and it works BEAUTIFULLY! The ammo is very common to find, but the actual strip clip is fairly rare. I believe this gun is a 2-Shot kill to anywhere on the body, but I'm not positive considering I always shoot someone twice with it to make sure players go down. I find this similar to a semi-automatic Mosin, feel wise. The long range scope is not currently attachable with it though, which made me a bit disappointed. This is the perfect gun for taking Airstrips and for self-protection. Although loud, it gets the job done very well. The iron sights on it are decent, but not the best. I find it better to hip fire this weapon at first rather than ADS and fire. But, the PU Scope helps a lot with medium to long range engagements Overall a great gun, and I would highly recommend picking it up if you find it.
