Blood Bags by Soupy at Dec 27, 2013 9:47pm

Blood Bags do not work the same way as in DayZ for Arma 2. In fact I found it to be a pain hunting down a player, stealing their blood, finding an IV kit, (only spawn in First Aid kits) making a blood bag IV, and finding a friendly player to give it to you. Although this works, you must know your blood type. Otherwise you will die if you are injected with the wrong type. You will need a blood test kit to do so. I recommend testing the blood you're putting into yourself as well.

After about 6 hours of playing the game I found Saline Kits to be EXTREMELY useful. You just combine a Saline Kit with a IV Kit, and voila: a Saline Bag is born! Saline Bags are the same thing as Blood Bags except you don't have to go through the trouble of finding test kits, stealing blood, etc. (note you still need another player to use the saline bag on you) I hope you found this tutorial helpful and good luck in Chernarus!

Another point that makes saline better than blood bags is that a saline IV restores 100% of your blood, while a blood transfusion only gives 20%.

I heard the SA version added blood types. I was fortunate to find a blood type tester only after one day worth of playing time. The result, "O" positive. What does this mean?". After looking up wiki, it's been determined that I can donate blood to all "positive" blood types, but can only receive blood from the "O" family.

I think talking about how the blood bags are used and listing what items are needed and explaining the order in which you need to test/use the items would make this "tut" into a tutorial. At this stage it just seems like you're explaining the stress you experienced with blood bags and how saline is better.

Your Blood Type is bound to your Character. Therefore you get a new Blood Type everytime your Character dies. You will not get a new Blood Type just for logging out and in.

The percentage of which Blood Type you get is based on real statistics. So you will spawn most commonly with an O Blood Type. But due to the risk of dying I wouldn't bet on it. Always use Blood Testing Kits to see if compatible.

To see which Blood Types are compatible i would like to refer you to this chart on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type#Red_blood_cell_compatibility

IV start kits can spawn outside of med bags, have found them in a supermarket.

OH how the topic is still relevant. I harass my teammates to man up and give blood if they are the "O" type whether + or - for the better of the team in case someone gets his ass shot off or something stupid happens. Although the Saline IV is a REALLY good thing to have and I would def recommend doing that before maybe putting blood your not sure about into your avatar but hey, it's DayZ...you can be force fed cleaning products...so do as you please. Although the 'triphecta" (I call them,) of IV start kit, Blood Bag kit &, Saline Bag (1 & 2 slot) gets confusing to me even now. If you find a '1 slot' Saline bag you need an IV start kit to use it. Obv the "2 slot" one already is ready to go but, as said before ^^^ by someone else you need a friend to give you what I consider to be 'Super' healing items. BUT...from what I hear Saline Bags only give you 500 blood back but dont quote me on that because it has usually always brought my vision back from the awful burn-your-fucking-retna-out white the screen gets with just 1 "2 slot" Saline bag. So unless someone wants to toss out the real numbers, here you go if your a noob...Always make room for medical supplies...seriously...you wont last long without them the way the zombies are these days (V.54-.55 (loot rollback)).
