Weapons

DayZ has a wide variety of weapons available to find. They can generally be divided into three tiers: common, military, and rare.

Common weapons are found in all areas of Chernarus in residential, industrial, and farm buildings. They will almost always be the first type of weapon a player obtains, as the dangers associated with the higher tiers of weapons make it very difficult to safely acquire one without the ability to defend yourself.

Military weapons come from Deer Stands, military camps, and airfields. Military weapons generally have larger clips and do more damage, either through higher rate of fire or higher bullet damage compared to common weapons. Many also include optical sights for improved aiming ability.

Rare weapons only spawn in random Helicopter Crashes. Some of these weapons use ammo only available from crashes, so their usefulness can be somewhat limited due to the scarcity of available ammo.

Weapon dmg is count this way..... AKM = 9 DMG

So.......9^ (9 x 9) = 81 And now You ALWAYS multiple scoore by 55.55 and You have gun dmg. Few examples now...

For AKM/M1911/Revolver it look like that: (9 x 9) x 55.55= 4499.55 dmg/per hit

For Lee enfield it look like that: (15 x15) x 55.55 = 12498 dmg/per hit

For Mp5/Mp5SD/Bison/M9/PDW/G17 it look like that: (5x5) x 55.55 = 1388 dmg/per hit

CZ550/DMR/FN FAL/M14 AIM (12 x12) x 55.55 = 7999 dmg/per hit

AK74/AKS - 74 Kobra/M4A1 (8 x 8) x 55.55 = 3555 dmg/per hit

Headshot = always one hit

I found an svd camo in a barracks, so it isn't only found in heli crashes.

A few days ago I found a camp in the forests. There were 6 tends with all kinds of things. I found: -6 x AS50 with at least 30 clips -7 x m107 -3 x L85 -5 x Ghillie Suit -10 x Range Finder -3 x NV Goggles

I'm glad that some people place their camp behind a house where anyone can see it. I would like to thank the owner of this camp.

Both "original" damage and the final blood damage should be displayed. Then everyone can be happy.

Damage numbers go into an exponential formula, not linear. So those numbers still work, 5^2 + 5^2 = 50, 9^2 = 81.

I found the ER7 RFW on Namalsk in the Bunker in Object AII. It is SOOOOO Epic it looks like an Alien Gun und sounds relly coool. The Ammo is very rare for that gun.

do the math, 5^2 x 55.55= 1388.75. thats 3~4 shots with a zombie having roughly 4.4k blood but m1911 is 9^2 x 55.55= 4499.55. More than enough to kill a zombie

Wait, then isn't the real damage of those rounds 25 instead of 5? I feel that would be a lot easier to understand. Additionally, does this mean the minimum damage to kill a zombie is between 64 and 75?

A few G36 variants have recently been found on the server I regularly play on, but I've been able to find no info about it. The server admin says he didn't spawn them, nor did he add them to the game's database. So can anyone else confirm finding a G36 variant on other servers?

Also, in that screenshot depicting all the DayZ weapons, there is a VSS on the table in front of the guy looking at all the guns... why isn't that weapon in game? I love that rifle!

Just a suggestion to the maker of the dayzDB. You should post pictures showing the sights for each weapon on each individual page. That would be very useful to see, especially for the sniper rifles.

i think for the weapons section there should be pictures of the sights just to give some extra information regarding weapon choice eg. M1911 vs Revolver etc..

I just got a sniper rifle called a M40A3. It has camo like the SVD, but it shoots combined DMR mags or M15(i think) mags.

(After patch) Great weapon. One of the best wepons against zombies. One hit to the body kills. Ammo is everywhere. Only disadvantage is loud is it. It works like a magnet in the cities.

I'd rather a calculation to get from weapon damage numbers to blood be listed. Keeping the numbers in this format is closer to the raw data, and therefore more informative.

The damage that weapons do need to be based off of blood..... or switch it to something like M14 AIM Zombie: 1 shot Player: 1H/2B Or M14 AIM Dmg: 8000

Some of these numbers don't add up. According to what's listed here, two shots from an M9SD should do more damage than a M1911 bullet (5 + 5 = 10 > 9), but a zombie dies in 3 M9SD bullets or 1 M1911 bullet.

Do these damages not directly add with each bullet fired?

Another bit of info that could be helpful on each weapon page is the caliber of the ammo it takes. Also, maybe a page on the Combine Ammo feature, i.e. changing a .45 ACP into M1911 mag, vice versa, et al. TY!

There's one weapon missing, the VSS Vintorez. It's actually in the game, but very very very few people have acquired it. Not sure about it's spawns, I know people who found some at Barracks and Deer Stands. It has a built-in silencer, and it has an effective range of 200 meters. That's all I know...

I think the guns do show damage values, but they only show the damage to players, not zombies... for example, the Lee Enfield does 15 damage (x 1000 [a player has 12k blood, so it kills in one shot]) or the G17 does 5 damage per shot and kills in 3 shots because 3 x 5 = 15 (x 1000). This also explains why the M1911 ( which does 9 damage) kills in one shot on zombies, while the G17c still takes 3 shots to kill a zombie, even though 2 shots with it does 10 damage. I hope this helps everybody!
