This page contains information about the mod version of DayZ. Standalone information is available here.

The crowbar is a melee weapon that is useful for silently killing zombies. It now does equal damage to the Hatchet, and is just as quiet, making it the same melee weapon as the Hatchet and Machete.

Crowbars, Hatchet, and Flashlight are unique in that they can be carried as either tools or in a weapon slot. Crowbars and hatchets occupy the primary weapon slot, while flashlights take the sidearm slot.

The big difference between the Hatchet and the crowbar is, that the crowbar can be wielded simultaneously with a primary weapon and accessed by switching to it by pressing "F" (firemodes). This makes it possible to silently crush a hospitals glass or kill animals without having to drop the primary weapon to switch to it.

Currently, when using the Hatchet or Crowbar, the player must reload before it can be used to attack. This is a bug that should be fixed in the future. Despite needing to reload it initially, it will never run out of ammunition.

I changed the article to reflect balance changes to damage values, it now states that the crowbar does damage equal to the .45 caliber weapons.

Every time I pick one of these up they don't work. Head to some industrial spawns and grab a hatchet every time over these.

Decent backup weapon when you run out of rounds in your mag.

Information missing!

The crowbar can be stored in the primary slot while there is an other primary weapon in that slot and can be accessed by pressing "F" and switching to it! this makes it superior to the hatchet, as you can still use it to crush a hospitals window or to kill an animal without having to drop your primary and switch to it

Less damage then hatchet, a bit rarer but hey you will look like gordon freeman :D

I've always found a hatchet before a crowbar, the only time I used one was when i didn't know how to take the axe from the toolbelt, and had a really bad experience.

It can go into the toolbelt? Well, since it suck as a weapon my guess is that it will have a decent use, like opening crates, perhaps.

1388 dmg/per hit

Don't pick this up. It sucks. 3-4 hits to hit a z while it can still hit you? Leave it where it spawned.
